Elderly man seriously injured after being struck in Scarborough

An elderly man has been rushed to a trauma centre with serious head injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Scarborough.

Police were called to the scene at Warden Avenue and Bamburgh Circle just after 9 a.m. on Saturday.

The 80-year-old pedestrian was rushed to hospital in life-threatening injuries. He has since been upgraded to non-life-threatening condition.

The vehicle involved remained on the scene.

Warden Avenue has been reopened in both directions.
