Man arrested after brandishing firearm in Mississauga

By News Staff

A 26-year-old Mississauga man is facing firearm and mischief charges.

Peel Regional Police received reports of a man hitting the window of an unoccupied vehicle in a parking lot near Dundas Street and Erindale Station Road just before 1 a.m. Saturday.

Bystanders confronted the suspect who brandished what appeared to be a firearm, police said in a news release. The suspect drove off in a white Fiat before officers arrived.

A short time later, the same suspect went to a restaurant near Mavis and Britannia roads where he assaulted a male victim and brandished a handgun, police said.

Police say Jarreth Brinson turned himself in to police Saturday night shortly after a warrant for his arrest was issued.

He will be charged with Mischief Over $5000 and two counts of Weapons Dangerous when he appears in court on Sunday.

Police say the investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact Peel Police or Crime Stoppers.
