Driver seriously injured in single vehicle crash in Corktown

A driver suffered life-threatening injuries following a single vehicle crash in the downtown core Sunday.
Police say a car struck a pole and burst into flames on King Street near Parliament Street just before 7 a.m.
Officers who arrived on the scene broke the windows of the car to try and free the trapped occupants.
One person was taken to a trauma centre suffering from burns and smoke inhalation.
Police say the other occupants of the car fled the scene.
An investigation is ongoing.
