Police release video of brutal attack at Vaughan tire shop

By News Staff

York regional police are trying to identify two men who were caught on surveillance video savagely beating an employee at a tire shop in Vaughan last August.

Police say the suspects walked into the shop on Hanlan Road on Aug. 20, 2018, just after 1 p.m.

Moments after arriving they attacked an employee, who ran out of the store. The suspects then turned their attention to a second employee, repeatedly kicking and punching him while he lays on a couch, desperately trying to cover his head and face.

At one point one of the suspects picks up a tire and hoists it overhead, slamming it into the victim’s upper body.

“When officers arrived, they found two men, one suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries, from which he may not fully recover,” police said in a release.

Police have not released a possible motive for the attack.

The suspects fled on foot south on Scholes Road towards Steeles Avenue.

  • Suspect 1 is described as a black male, five feet seven inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a black hoodie, and a black bandanna.
  • Suspect 2 is described a black male, six feet one inch tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a blue hoodie and blue bandanna and was wearing sunglasses.
