Durham police investigating homophobic graffiti at Courtice school

By News Staff

Durham police say they have launched an investigation after homophobic and racist graffiti was found on a public school in Courtice.

Officers say the graffiti was located at the rear of S.T. Worden Public School on Sunday morning.

Constable George Tudos said the vandalism was on an exterior brick wall where the kindergarteners enter the school.

“It was just a bunch of different words, pictures, a lot of homophobic messages and, I believe, there were racist remarks spray painted on the walls as well,” said Tudos.

There are no details on any suspects at this point.

Police are checking neighbouring homes and businesses for any security camera video.
