With the long weekend just days away, police across the province are launching a road safety blitz focusing on the dangers of distracted driving.

The theme of the campaign is “Distracted Driving Ruins Lives. Drive Safe.”

Research has shown distracted drivers are three times more likely to be in a crash than attentive drivers.

Police say 80 per cent of crashes have some form of driver inattention as a contributing factor.

The campaign will run until May 20.
