One man was stabbed following an altercation with a group of people near Bloor Street West and Spadina Avenue.
Officers responded to a call for a stabbing on Spadina and Washington avenues around 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police initially said a woman was being abused by a man and when two other men stopped to intervene, one of them was stabbed.
However, in a news release on Wednesday, police clarified that the incident occurred closer to Sussex Avenue and involved a man and woman who were engaged in an argument.
Police say a group of young men and women became involved in the dispute. The group repeatedly assaulted the man and one of the group members then allegedly stabbed him.
The man was rushed to hospital via emergency run and is now in stable condition.
Anyone who may have witnessed or recorded the incident is asked to contact police.
