Mercedes slams into several buildings in East York, driver arrested

An arrest has been made after a Mercedes slammed into several buildings along Laird Drive between Millwood Road and Eglinton Avenue in East York late Tuesday night.
Police were called to the Leaside community at around 11:30 p.m.
The luxury vehicle smashed into more than 10 buildings, including a Mosque and a Home Depot. No injuries were reported.
The vehicle was spotted travelling eastbound on the Gardiner Expressway.
A 25-year-old man was later arrested in Scarborough. Police tell 680 NEWS he wasn’t impaired, but no motive has been determined at this point.
Pavithran Tharmapalan of Pickering is charged with 11 counts of mischief over $5000, three counts of mischief under $5000 and failure to stop for police/pursuit. He is also facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
The black Mercedes was found and seized.
