Driver did not throw kittens out of car on QEW: police

By News Staff

Niagara police say a driver did not throw kittens out of a car on the QEW in Niagara Falls on Friday morning.

OPP said witnesses reported seeing several kittens being thrown from a vehicle and officers found dead animals on the roadway.

However, upon further investigation, it was discovered that the kittens had lodged themselves in the Hyundai’s engine bay for warmth and the driver drove off without knowing the animals were there.

The animals then fell out once the vehicle got onto the highway.

Police said two of the kittens died but a third was seen running away. Its current whereabouts are unknown.

Investigators determined there was no reason to lay criminal charges against the driver.

The Niagara Humane Society is reminding drivers to check for animals around their vehicles.
