Hero dogs inducted into Purina Animal Hall of Fame

By News Staff

Three courageous Canadian canines have been inducted into the Purina Animal Hall of Fame.

Tucker, a six-year-old Shepherd-Rottweiler mix, saved his family from a house fire in Niagara-on-the-Lake last September.

Rosco, a three-year-old Shepherd mixed breed rescue dog from Calgary, got help when his owner was having a stroke.

And Shelby, a 13-year-old German Shepherd-Retriever mix from Sault St. Marie, stood her ground and endured a grueling bear attack to keep her owner safe.

The three dogs received medals of honour during an induction ceremony Tuesday at the Evergreen Brick Works.

And well-deserved attention isn’t the only thing these brave dogs will be eating up. The dogs were each awarded a year supply of Purina dog food.
