Man shot in area of Thomson Memorial Park

By News Staff

Police say a man is in hospital after a shooting in Scarborough on Sunday night.

Officers responded to multiple calls reporting gunshots in Thomson Memorial Park around 9:30 p.m.

A male victim, approximately 19 years old, was found in a picnic area and was taken to hospital in non-life threatening condition.

Const. Darren Alldrit told CityNews the victim had a gunshot wound to the head but was conscious and breathing when taken to hospital where he remains in serious condition.

Police say motorcycles were seen leaving the area but it is unclear if they are connected to the shooting.

Alldrit says the park was crowded with lots of people nearby and officers are interviewing witnesses to determine what took place.

It is unclear if the shooting itself occurred inside the park or near it.

A portion of the area has been cordoned off while police investigate.

Anyone with information or video of the incident is asked to contact police.
