Hamilton police are investigating after a 30-year-old man drowned in a pool on Monday.
Emergency crews arrived at a home on Proctor Boulevard just before 9 p.m. after receiving a call about a man found at the bottom of the pool.
It was reported that the man had been swimming alone in the backyard pool while the homeowner was out front. When the homeowner came around back and saw the man at the bottom of the pool he jumped in, pulled the man out and, with the help of a neighbour, performed CPR and called police.
Paramedics were unable to revive the man and he was rushed to hospital where he later died.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
Police said the man was visiting Hamilton from the United States.
His name isn’t being released as police continue to notify next-of-kin.
