Woman, 68, struck and killed by garbage truck in North York identified

Police now know the identity of a woman who was fatally struck by a garbage truck in North York on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Cliffwood and Don Mills roads around 2 p.m. for a collision.
Investigators said the 68-year-old woman was walking eastbound on the north side of Cliffwood, crossing in the north crosswalk, and the truck was making a left turn when she was struck.
The woman was taken to a trauma centre in critical condition. She was pronounced dead in hospital.
The truck and the 49-year-old driver stayed on scene.
The woman had no identification on her so police released images of her belongings to the public in the hopes of getting some help. Police said they now know who the woman is. Her name has not been released.
Police are asking anyone who may have footage of the crash to contact investigators.
The crash happened just as city council was voting on how to reboot their current strategy to reduce traffic deaths.
Council voted to reduce speed limits on some roads from 60 km/h an hour to 50 km/h.
