By News Staff

A 25-year-old man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a collision on Highway 401, Toronto EMS said Saturday.

Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt tweeted at around 6:55 p.m. that two vehicles were involved in a collision in the westbound collectors at Don Mills.

Schmidt said the victim had stopped his vehicle on the highway’s shoulder to deal with an unknown issue when the collision occurred.

“While he was outside of [his] vehicle, another vehicle came through and struck the rear of that vehicle,” he said.

The man that struck the victim has since been charged with careless driving causing bodily harm, Schmidt said.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
