Police say husky puppy stolen outside downtown Loblaws a ‘misunderstanding’

By News Staff

Toronto police say a four-month old husky puppy believed to have been stolen is now safely at home with its owner.

Just after noon on Thursday, police released security camera images of a man and woman suspected of stealing the puppy two weeks ago outside the Loblaws in the old Maple Leaf Gardens at Carlton and Church streets.

It was reported that on July 12 the dog was on a leash that was tied to a post while its owner was in the store shopping.

The man and woman allegedly approached the puppy, untied it and left the area with the dog.

Late Thursday night, police said the dog had been returned and that the incident was a misunderstanding.

Police say they are no longer searching for any suspects.
