Police seeking two witnesses captured on video at time of Markham shooting

York Regional Police has released blurred video of two witnesses captured on video surveillance in connection with a shooting in Markham on Aug. 1.

Police responded to several calls for the sound of gunshots at  a restaurant located at 5460 Highway 7 East, shortly after 11 p.m.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a 39-year-old man fatally shot. Police identified the victim but CityNews has chosen not to name him at the family’s request.

The suspect fled from the scene on a motorcycle and police have previously released images of the suspect and the motorcycle involved.

Investigators are looking to speak to the two people in the video released Thursday, who are seen conversing in a parking lot. Police are hoping they will recognize themselves and come forward.

The suspect remains at large and anyone with information on their identity or information that would help identify the year, make and model of the motorcycle is asked to get in touch with police.

Investigators are also appealing to local businesses and residents living close by to come forward with any surveillance or dashcam footage that may have captured the suspect and motorcycle.
