Toronto police are investigating after witnesses reported seeing a taxi driver strike someone and drive off near Weston Road and Highway 401 Tuesday evening.

CityNews has obtained video of the alleged incident that shows two men involved in a dispute before the cab driver gets in his vehicle and attempts to drive off, striking the other man. He then flees the scene.

The incident happened on Weston Road near Oak Street just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police say they are investigating the incident as a fail-to-remain collision.

Witnesses told police a man was outside of his car when he became involved in an altercation with taxi driver. It’s unclear why the man was outside the vehicle in the first place. The 9-1-1 callers then said the cab driver fled.

Paramedics did respond to the scene, but the man refused treatment and was uninjured.

CityNews has reached out to Beck Taxi to see whether a complaint has been filed.
