A 48-year-old man from Kawartha Lakes has been arrested after a high speed chase Wednesday night.
Just after 11 p.m. Durham Regional police’s helicopter, Air1, was deployed, along with officers on the ground, to check out a suspicious truck at the Owasco RV Compound on Rundle Road in Clarington.
Police said the chopper located the truck, a Ford F-350 that had been reported stolen from the Kingston area, between several RVs.
When police on the ground approached the truck the vehicle sped off.
Air1 followed the truck for about an hour through neighbourhoods in Bowmanville and Whitby, as well as two separate trips on Highway 401.
Police were finally able to stop the vehicle on Highway 7 in Bowmanville by using a spike belt.
Officers found a loaded firearm in the truck.
