A man in his 20s is in hospital after an overnight shooting in Mississauga.

Emergency crews were called to the scene in the Dunmow Crescent, near Cawthra and Burnhamthorpe roads, just before 2 a.m. Tuesday for reports of shots fired.

A few blocks away on Hurontario Street police found the victim sitting in a vehicle that had a flat tire and several bullet holes in it. The man was conscious but suffering serious but not life-threatening injuries to his lower torso.

Police said it appears the victim was getting into a vehicle when he was shot. Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.

Paramedics rushed him to a trauma centre.

Police are searching for two suspects. They are described as male, both wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered. They fled the area in a silver Hyundai.
