The Toronto police homicide unit has been called in to investigate after a man was found dead in a Dorset Park apartment building.

Police were called to Antrim Crescent and Kennedy Road just after 11 p.m. Sunday after the man in his 50s was found lifeless by people who entered the apartment.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Det. Rob Choe said the initial 911 call came in as a medical emergency, but police said evidence inside the unit changed course of investigation to a homicide. Police have not yet revealed what that evidence was.

Choe said no arrests have been made and that they will not be releasing a suspect description at this time.

The victim has been identified as Edwin McGowan, 52, of Toronto.

A post-morten is scheduled for Tuesday.

This is the city’s 48th homicide of the year.
