Man, 65, dies after being struck by vehicle in Oakridge

A 65-year-man has died after he was struck by a vehicle in the Oakridge area on Tuesday night.

Police were called to the area of Danforth and Pharmacy avenues for a collision shortly before 9 p.m.

According to police, the man was crossing Danforth mid-block — not at a marked crossing — when he was struck by a westbound Mercedes SUV. Paramedics transported him to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The driver and vehicle involved remained on scene.

No word on if any charges will be laid at this point.

This is the 26th pedestrian fatality this year and the second-straight night a pedestrian was struck and killed on Toronto streets.
