Power restored along Queen East, outage affected polling station

By News Staff

Some Torontonians were forced to vote in the dark on Monday after a power outage affected a large section of Queen Street East.

The outage started just before 10 a.m. and power was restored around 11:15 a.m.

At one point, Toronto Hydro’s outage map showed as many as 5,000 customers without power.

The outage ran along Queen Street East from Riverside all the way east to the Beaches. There has been no word on what caused the outage.

At least one polling station, located at Queen Street and Jones Avenue, was operating in the dark.
