Pedestrian struck near Mississauga intersection

Peel police are investigating after a 79-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle near a major Mississauga intersection Wednesday.

Police said the call came in at around 6:20 p.m. for a report that a pedestrian had been struck in the Hurontario Street and The Queensway area.

A patient was transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition, police said.

Both the vehicle and the driver remained on the scene. Two lanes of northbound Hurontario were closed for the investigation.

Police said the major collisions bureau is investigating the incident.
