Toronto police are searching for the driver after a 47-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle near Midland and Steeles avenues.
Emergency crews were called to the area around 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
It appears the woman was not at a crosswalk, cutting across Midland south of Steeles, when she was hit by an SUV heading north. The driver fled the scene.
The woman was found unconscious when paramedics arrived and taken to a trauma centre. She remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police said they are looking for a dark-coloured SUV that may have damage to its front end and/or to the windshield.
