Public health warning issued for Mississauga dental office over possible hepatitis, HIV exposure

By News Staff

Cleanliness and sterilization issues at a dental office in Mississauga have led to a public health warning from Peel Region.

The agency is advising anyone who received services at Alforat Dental Center between February of 2014 and September of this year to be tested, as a precaution, for bloodborne infections.

Peel Public Health says the risk of infection is considered low but patients should talk to their doctors about getting tested for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.

The Alforat Dental Center is located at 2395 Cawthra Road.

The clinic closed on Sept. 20 and re-opened two weeks later after getting the all clear for complying with infection prevention and control standards.
