Young girl seriously injured after being struck in Scarborough

A young girl has been seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Scarborough.

Police say the incident occurred at the intersection of Eglington Avenue East and Birchmount Road around 3 p.m.

An eyewitness tells CityNews the child had been crossing Birchmount and was standing at the island in the middle of the intersection when she was struck by a car.

The age of the girl has not been provided but paramedics but her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The driver remained at the scene.
