1 dead, 1 injured after being struck by vehicles in separate incidents

The traffic services unit of the Toronto Police Service is investigating after two pedestrians were struck in two separate incidents Monday evening.

One pedestrian is dead and another is injured after they were struck by vehicles in separate incidents at opposite ends of the city on Monday evening.

Police said a 76-year-old man was crossing Dundas Street near Scarlett Road around 8:30 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle.

He was taken to hospital but later died.

Earlier in evening, around 6 p.m., police said a 38-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing Morningside Avenue just north of the Highway 401 off-ramp.

Police said the woman remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
