Woman using motorized wheelchair dies after hit-and-run in Mississauga

The 45-year-old woman was travelling northbound in the southbound bike lane on Dixie when she was hit by a dark-coloured Honda sedan which fled the scene.

A 45-year-old woman who was using a motorized wheelchair has died after she was struck by a car in Mississauga.

Peel police were called to Dixie Road and Lakeshore Road East around 6:45 a.m. on Friday.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as Penny Cousard.

Police said the woman was travelling northbound in the southbound bike lane on Dixie when she was hit by a car that was heading southbound.

Police are looking for a 2014 black Honda Civic with licence plates CKCX 123, which was last seen going southbound on Dixie Road. Police say car will have extensive front-end damage on the right side.

Police are appealing to the driver to contact a lawyer and turn themselves in.
