Woman dies following violent assault in Mississauga

Peel police are investigating after a woman was killed in a violent assault in Mississauga.

A woman is dead after being stabbed during a violent assault in Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police said they were called to a home in the area of Roadside Way and Ninth Line near Eglinton Avenue West and Winston Churchill Boulevard around 12:30 p.m. Sunday following reports of a woman screaming.

When they arrived they found a female victim suffering from stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A male suspect has been taken into custody and is expected to be charged with murder.

Police would not say at this time what the relationship is, if any, between the man and the woman.

Police said two young children were also present in the home at the time of the incident but neither were harmed and are now in the care of the police.
