A man is in life-threatening condition following what police say was a stabbing at an apartment building in North York Saturday afternoon.
Police Insp. Paul Rinkoff said officers were called at around 1:55 p.m. to an apartment building in the area of Fountainhead and Sentinel Roads.
When officers arrived, he said the officers found a man in his 30s in the building’s lobby with a serious stab wound to his kneck.
He was transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition, he said.
Investigators said they believe the stabbing was the result of a physical altercation with another male.
Police said they have one male under arrest and is being held at a local police station.
Initial reports said the stabbing victim was a child, but the child was later located with just minor scrapes. Police say they are investigating reports the incident could have been an attempted abduction.
Police also say a citizen allegedly held down a man before officers arrived.
Anyone with information is asked by the police to contact them directly. Tips can also be left anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
