Toronto police have released a security image of a vehicle believed to have struck two people in a laneway in the city’s west end Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the scene in the Queen Street West and Tecumseth Street area just before 5:30 a.m.

It was reported that a 31-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were near the laneway entrance when, what is believed to be a grey Jeep Wrangler, turned westbound off Tecumseth into the laneway, hitting both pedestrians.

The vehicle then fled the area.

The woman was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say this is a very populated area of the city and are asking any witnesses who have not come forward, or anyone who may have security or dashcam footage of the area or the incident, to contact investigators.
