Police identify victim in fatal Woodbridge shooting

York regional police have identified a man who was found shot to death at a strip plaza in Woodbridge on Sunday.

Police were called to the plaza at 8074 Islington Avenue, north of Woodbridge Avenue, just after 5:30 p.m.

Officers found the victim outside a restaurant. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has since been identified as Marwan Awdi, 32, of Toronto.

Police do not have a suspect description at this time, but a black pickup truck was seen fleeing north on Islington Avenue.

The vehicle has since been recovered, but no arrests have been made.

“Due to tips received, the vehicle was identified and was located unoccupied in the area of 5th Line and 10th Sideroad in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury,” police said in a release.
