Police release security footage of suspects in murder of John Wheeler

Toronto police have released security images and video showing two suspects and a suspect vehicle in the shooting death of 45-year-old John Wheeler.

Wheeler was shot while waiting for a ride to work outside an apartment building on Danforth Road near Eglinton Avenue East in Scarborough around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Wheeler was not known to police and police have not yet determined a motive.

“He [was] a hard working man. He lives in the neighbourhood,” Det-Sgt. Ted Lioumanis explained earlier this week. “Right now, in regards to motive, there is no motive that I can suggest why he was targeted, if he was even targeted.”

Investigators will provide an update on the case at 4 p.m. Friday.
