Toronto to launch new online registration for short-term rentals

Beginning September 10th, short-term rental operators will need to start registering with the city.
Officials say this is necessary so that new rules for short term rentals can be enforced.
The new registration system is part of a plan to better regulate short-term rentals across Toronto.
The city says it will boost education around short-term rental rules, encouraging operators to register online and work with companies such as Airbnb and Expedia.
Some of the new rules include renting their principal residence in the short term and people renting up to three bedrooms in their main residence for an unlimited number of nights per year.
