Investigators from Peel Regional Police say a woman who was believed to have been forced into a vehicle in Brampton on Saturday night was not kidnapped.
Police say a concerned citizen called them after seeing two men allegedly forced a woman into a vehicle near Creditview Road and Wanless Drive around 10 p.m.
The caller said the woman shouted for help as she was being forced into the vehicle — possibly a black Audi SUV.
Police say the Audi left the area and went northbound on Creditview and was followed by a red sedan – possibly a late model Lexus.
After tips from the public, police have pieced together that the woman was driving the red car and pulled into a parking lot area of a commercial space, as did the black Audi.
The woman stepped out of her car and a man stepped out of the SUV and shortly after, there was a physical altercation between them.
They both then returned to their vehicles and the vehicles left the parking lot.
Police are still investigating because an altercation took place, but confirm that no one was forced into a vehicle or kidnapped.
“With assistance from the public and review of further video evidence, investigators have identified three women and both vehicles involved in this incident,” police said in a news release Sunday afternoon. “This investigation is ongoing, however, officers would like to thank the public and media outlets for the assistance they provided in this case.”
