Provincial police say a six-year-old boy who went missing in the south Bruce Peninsula area has been found safe.

Just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, the OPP said officers from the Grey Bruce detachment were “actively searching” for the boy after he went missing from a home on Mapleport Crescent.

OPP helicopters and emergency crews are also assisting with the search.

Around midnight, police tweeted that an OPP helicopter “observed the boy in a wooded area within a kilometre of the residence.”
