Several schools put in hold and secure mode following gun call

By News Staff

Some schools in the Allen Road and Eglinton Avenue West area were put into hold-and-secure mode Monday after a man was allegedly seen walking around with two guns.

Police said they got the call at around 5:43 a.m.

Several public and high schools were put into hold-and-secure as a precaution.

Police searched the area for most of the day but did not locate anyone, police said.  Officers stayed in the area to investigate.

Police described the suspect as a male, between five-foot-six inches and five-foot-eight inches tall and around 160 pounds. He was also wearing a “SWAT” suit, balaclava and army cap.

The hold-and-secure orders for the schools in the area were slowly lifted later in the afternoon, the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) said.

Officers were kept on the scene to help with the dismissal of students, the TDSB added.
