Three teens are among eight suspects who are facing 53 charges after police say shots were fired at officers during a raid in the Don Mills area.

Police said Emergency Task Force officers executed a search warrant at an apartment on The Donway near Lawrence Avenue East at around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

As officers entered the seventh floor unit, people inside the residence allegedly fired at the officers. Police said the officers did not return fire, backing out of the unit until the shooting stopped.

Two firearms were seized during the search warrant.

Tafari Greene, 19; Kristian Lopez Carter, 19; and Jahmarley Smith, 19 – all from Toronto – are each facing seven firearm-related charges. Sabrina Carpino, 40, from Toronto, is facing six firearm-related charges.

Three Toronto teens – a 14-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy, and two 16-year-old girls – were also arrested.

The 14-year-old and 15-year-old are each facing seven firearm-related charges, while the 16 year olds are each facing six firearm-related charges.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has now taken over the investigation.

Paramedics said they transported two adults to a local hospital but would not comment on the seriousness of the injuries other than to say they were not life-threatening.

The SIU confirmed a 19-year-old man has been diagnosed with a “serious injury” after complaining of pain.
