York regional police say a 27-year-old Toronto man is facing impaired and dangerous driving charges after being spotted driving on a blown-out tire.

Officials say they received several 911 calls from concerned citizens on Sunday evening in the Valleymede Drive and Redstone Road area of Richmond Hill. Callers said the vehicle was repeatedly hitting the curb while driving, that the driver had his trunk open and continued to drive after blowing out a tire.

“He’s driving on the rim. It’s sparking,” one 911 caller can be heard saying in a video released by police.

Police say when they caught up with the driver he was showing signs of impairment and his vehicle’s front tire was completely blown out.

Officers say they found an open beer bottle and cannabis inside the man’s vehicle, and that he later admitted to being high on methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Police say he has been charged with impaired driving of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and driving with alcohol and cannabis readily available.
