Snow blows through the GTA creating slippery conditions

Last Updated Nov 22, 2020 at 9:32 pm EST

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for the City of Toronto and most of southern Ontario Sunday.

The federal weather agency said upwards of 20 centimetres of snow will fall. The heaviest amounts will likely be seen north of Highway 401.

“Snowfall continues this evening. Ice pellets and rain are mixing in with the snow near Lake Ontario, and this trend should continue this evening, further adding to already sloppy conditions,” they said. “Hazardous winter weather travel conditions will continue during this time.”

Motorists are being warned that the rapidly accumulating snow will make driving more difficult as visibility could be reduced to zero at times.

The snow is expected to taper-off in the overnight hours into Monday.

Environment Canada said the snow is a result of a Colorado Low that will make its way from Ohio and into the St. Lawrence River area Sunday into Monday.
