LCBO, SkipTheDishes announce partnership to deliver alcohol across Toronto

By Lucas Casaletto

People living in Toronto can now order a fresh pint or glass of wine right from the comfort of their own home.

On Friday, the LCBO and SkipTheDishes announced a partnership that will see the food delivery giant now make selling alcohol a part of its service.

Starting today, the LCBO said SkipTheDishes will be able to work with 15 stores in Toronto that offer on-demand delivery directly to customers.

“We’re thrilled to be able to expand our offerings to our customers in Ontario through this partnership with the LCBO,” said Steve Puchala, Senior Vice President, Growth & Restaurant Success, SkipTheDishes.

“In the lead up to the holidays, this service comes at the perfect time to bring the safety and convenience of alcohol home delivery to customers in Toronto.”

Sources indicate to 680 NEWS that The Beer Store also has a similar deal and agreement with SkipTheDishes but has ultimately decided to pause out of respect to local restaurants and small businesses in areas that are locked down, such as Toronto.

Through the SkipTheDishes app or website, customers can order from over 300 best-selling wine, beer and spirits, including a selection of local products.

Customers will also be able to order gift bags, boxes, ice and more for delivery from their local LCBO.

“The strength of Skip’s technology and extensive delivery network makes them an ideal partner as we offer a safe, responsible and convenient on-demand delivery service for our customers,” said George Soleas, President and CEO of LCBO.

“We anticipate it will be a great success over the holiday season and we hope to expand the service further across the province in the new year.”

The delivery service is available exclusively through SkipTheDishes Tuesday through Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. and will be in service until one hour prior to store closure.
