Police release shocking video of daylight shooting on busy Toronto highway

Officers received reports of shots fired shortly after 2:30 p.m. on the westbound portion of Highway 401 in the collectors near Highway 400 and its northbound ramp.

Toronto police have released shocking video of a brazen, daylight shooting on Highway 401 near the 400 that they hope will lead to the public properly identifying the owner of a suspect vehicle.

On Tuesday, officers received reports of shots fired shortly after 2:30 p.m. on the westbound portion of Highway 401 in the collectors near Highway 400 and its northbound ramp.

Several police cruisers quickly arrived on scene and located Toyota SUV that was shot at.

Toronto police said no injuries were reported but that the car was damaged by gunfire.

The suspect vehicle is described as a four-door grey Hyundai Sedan last seen travelling westbound on Highway 401.

The incident led to major closures on the highway that remained in place for several hours.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact investigators or crime stoppers.
