SIU investigating after man with knife tasered, shot with rubber bullet by police

The Special Investigations Unit has been called in after a suspect was injured in an interaction with police in the area of Richmond Street and Sherbourne Street.
Police were called to the scene just after 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning, for reports of someone damaging cars.
When they arrived, they found the man armed with a knife.
There was an interaction — the man was tasered more than once, but that had no effect, and he was later shot with rubber bullets.
SIU investigating interacation that occurred this morning between a man and Toronto Police Service officers in the Richmond and Sherbourne area. More information to come later.

The man was taken to hospital with serious, but not-life-threatening injuries.
Richmond is closed from Ontario Street to George Street for the investigation.
