Ontario reports 975 new COVID-19 cases, 12 more deaths

Ontario reported 975 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, a decrease from 1,058 cases on Monday.

Twelve more people have also died, bringing the province’s COVID-19 death toll to 6,884 people.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says there are 343 new cases in Toronto, 186 in Peel and 89 in York Region.

This is the first time since February 17 that the daily case number has been below 1,000, when 847 cases were reported.

The government also said around 26,000 COVID-19 tests were completed on Monday and 585,707 vaccine doses have been administered.
