A woman is lucky to be alive after a wheel flew off another vehicle and crashed into her Ford Explorer, splitting the windshield.
It happened on the westbound 401 near Dixie Road in Mississauga on Tuesday afternoon.
The wheel fell off a car travelling east in the express lanes.
OPP SGT. Kerry Schmidt attended the scene and says the wheel is a summer tire.
He suspects it may have just been put on the vehicle and not properly installed.
“One of the issues we’re gonna be finding out is whether or not that wheel was recently installed’, Schmidt said in a video he posted to Twitter.
The victim says she is lucky to be alive, “I thank God that I’m alive today and I thank all the wonderful people that stopped immediately to give me some support and assistance.”
