Police officer charged in alleged assault of a woman in Hamilton

By News Staff

The Hamilton Police Service has charged one of its own officers following an on-duty interaction with a woman earlier this year.

According to police, two officers responded to a tenant and landlord dispute at an apartment near King Street East and Sherman Avenue back on February 11.

A camera outside an apartment captured the interaction and showed one of the officers allegedly lunging at a female tenant, police said.

As a result of the interaction, Constable Ian Millburn has been charged with assault. He has been placed on administrative duties and will have no contact with the public.

Const. Millburn is scheduled to appear in court in July, 2021.
