Several people injured in Mississauga industrial fire

By Lucas Spadafora

Peel Police say four people suffered varying levels of injury in an industrial fire in Mississauga on Monday morning.

Emergency crews were called to a heat treating facility on Anson Drive near Torbram and Derry Roads around 11 a.m.

Police say early reports indicated an explosion occurred. Fire officials on scene tell 680 NEWS that the fire began in an industrial oven. The blaze has since been extinguished.

Police and paramedics say one person was taken to a trauma centre in serious, but non-life threatening condition and another patient was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Two others were treated on scene.

Roads in the area were closed for an investigation but have since reopened.

The Office of the Fire Marshall and the Ministry of Labour have been notified.
