Toronto opening 10 outdoor pools in time for Step 1 of reopening plan

By Lucas Casaletto

The City of Toronto is opening up 10 of its 58 outdoor pools this weekend “for residents and visitors to have fun in the sun and make a splash while enjoying the warm summer weather.”

The remaining locations will open two weekends from now, on June 19.

Mayor John Tory says swimmers will have to reserve 45-minute sessions in advance.

“Staff have worked closely with Toronto Public Health to make sure that there are guidelines in place to ensure that people can swim safely at all of Toronto’s pools,” the Mayor said Wednesday.

“Like last summer, capacity at outdoor pools will be reduced to 25 per cent to ensure adequate space for physical distancing.”
