Five people are facing numerous charges after a man was allegedly kidnapped in Brampton.

Peel police were called to the area of Williams Parkway and Chinguacousy Road just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday after a man called them to say he had just escaped a residence where he had been held against his will for several days.

When police arrived, the suspects barricaded themselves inside the home.

The standoff ended peacefully several hours later with police arresting five occupants at the home.

Anna Leblanc, 21, from Montreal, Shannon Rasanayagam, 22, from Toronto, Evans Casmir, 20, from Laval, and Stevens Estimable, 23, from Montreal, have all been charged with kidnapping, forcible confinement and various firearm offences.

Preston Gunner, 50, from Montreal was charged with forcible confinement as well as several weapons charges.

All of the suspects appeared at a Brampton court on Friday to answer the charges.
