Woman dead after being struck by vehicle in Brampton

A 76-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a vehicle in Brampton on Tuesday evening.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Highway 410 and Queen Street around 5:30 p.m.

Police said the woman was struck in a parking lot near a fast food restaurant.

The woman was taken to a local hospital where she died of her injuries.

No charges have been laid but police continue to investigate.

Correction: Police initially said one person was in custody for dangerous driving, but in an update on Wednesday said that was no longer the case.
